Dao Sword of the Nagas of Assam

This is an example of a dao, the national weapon of the Nagas of Assam (India) and the Kachin people of Myanmar (Burma). This example is a classic style with folded steel blade (pattern is very obvious). Beveled blade, ~18-3/4" long, ~2-1/2" wide at the tip. Lacquered wood handle with bone plate as a pommel cap (decorated with a 4-petal floral symbol). Overall length is ~24-5/8". |
