Bhutanese Short Sword
An old short sword (or long knife) from Bhutan. These type of swords are characterized by the good, heavy, single edge, blade and the open side scabbard. The blade here is 15" long and appears to be of a pattern folded type similar to wootz; the grip is wood bound with twisted silver wires and decorated with rosettes. The wood scabbard is open and the sword is held in position by two bands. Total length in scabbard is ~23 inches on this example. |
