Austro-Hungarian Model 1895
"NCO" Knife Bayonet

This is a knife bayonet used from the period 1895 into WWII and was designed to fit the Austrian Model 1895 Mannlicher Infantry Carbine. There were a number of bayonet sub-models including types with/without a hooked lower quillon; with a "front" sight for the carbine or "NCO" variant; non-functional dress types; etc., etc.
The most distinct feature about this model - other than the blade appearing to be "upside-down" (cutting edge on top) - is that it has a "lanyard" loop for attaching a unit troddel or knot (to indicate unit designation/colors).
All models have wood grips (with attaching variations), steel pommel, crossguard, and blade.
The scabbards are of blued sheet-rolled-steel and "blued".

Examples made in Austria are indicated by the stamping OEWG for Osterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft (roughly translating to Austrian Arms Factory); this can be found on the blade ricasso and perhaps on the scabbard frog stud.
