T.W. Cofer, Norfolk, Percussion Hammer Double SxS Shotgun, Antique |
COFER001SxS
|

Rare T.W. Cofer, Norfolk (Virginia) marked Double Barrel Side-by-Side Percussion Shotgun manufactured circa 1865-1875 in London, England (barrels are London proofed). Appears to be ~12 gauge.
Nicely manufactured and appears to be all original, including ramrod. Lock-plates are marked, "T.W. Cofer"; barrels are marked in gold lettering, "LONDON FINE TWIST" followed by, "Norfolk". Silver furniture - fore-end cap, barrel wedge escutcheons, and patch-box; iron trigger-guard.
A rare find. T.W. Cofer was a manufacturer and importer of shotguns before and after the Civil War. During the Civil War he made revolvers (and presumeably other arms) for the Confederacy.
Very good condition overall; no major flaws noted. Some rust freckling is visible on the brown finish barrels. Various minor dings, scratches, nothing major or considered noteworthy (see images).
Used gun; antique; not sold as a shooter; no warranty implied or given. Please have any gun you intend to shoot - in any fashion - checked by a competent gunsmith.
Must be paid in advance with certified funds - bank check, bank money order only; online eCheck or credit card payments will not be accepted.
