British Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer's Sword. Proof plug press inserted into ricasso is marked "HW" in script for Henry Wilikinson of Wilkinson Sword Company of London, England. This logo/plug was inserted into their "better" swords. Due to the blade and hilt bearing the Royal Cypher of Edward VII, this sword was most likely manufactured between 1901-1910, the term of his reign.
Overall length in scabbard is ~40-1/2"; overall length out of scabbard is ~38-3/4"; blade length is ~32-1/4".
Very good blade with good etching, no pitting, no obvious tarnish. Hilt grip has been repaired, wrap replaced.
Good intact scabbard with two hanger ringlets; tubular sheet-rolled-steel, nickel plated with ~50% remaining; scattered dark oxide mainly towards drag; two small dents just above drag.
Good to very-good condition overall.
