Magic Cast Iron Single Shot Pistol, circa 1899

1MAGICPISTOL001A

Offered here is a MAGIC cast iron single-shot pistol. These are often advertised as a "cap pistol" but I strongly believe these are functional and may be able to fire a rimfire cartridge of an obsolete ~.17 caliber. The hammer has a straight vertical firing pin as on rimfire .22 pistols; the barrel is unobstructed and I believe was intended for a projectile to pass through it. Most of these will likely be considered Antiques as I would not go so far as to put them in the Curio & Relic category; certainly they fall into the non-technical term of Firearms Curiosa. I have seen virtually identical examples with the cast-in wording, "PAT'D/OCT 17,/99" but this appears to be an earlier version without patent date.
Hammer does not lock in place and falls forward on its own; locking lever - that releases the barrel so it can be tipped down and loaded - is broken off (this lever would protrude forward of the trigger guard, appearing as a second trigger). Fair condition.
Sold as-is, no warranty implied or given. Not sold as a shooter. Please have any gun you plan to shoot thoroughly checked by a competent gunsmith prior to firing.
Considered an antique gun, manufactured before 1899. A great collector's item.
