Unknown origin sword without scabbard; crude manufacture. All steel construction with the exception of the leather "washer" style grips. Square nut is threaded onto tang to secure leather washers. Unknown origin and I cannot speculate; it came with a collection of Civil War-era swords just acquired.
Overall length is ~33-1/2"; blade length is ~27-7/8"; width is ~1-5/8" at ricasso; thickness is ~1/8" at ricasso. Cross-section of blade is four-sided parallelogram or "diamond-shaped" with medial rib; tip is spear-point style. Exaggerated oval cross-guard.
Dark oxide and scattered light to moderate pitting overall. Fair condition. Sold as is.
NOTE: No scabbard.
