Greek Ceremonial Dagger
1GRKCRDG001A
This is obviously a ceremonial or commemorative dagger with the word, [I believe this states GREECE, or ELLAS translated from the Greek alphabet] on one side and 1821 on the other. The year 1821 is significant in Greek history as it is the beginning of the rebellion of the Greeks within the Ottoman Empire.
Cast bronze hilt with low quality ~15" blade with ~3-1/2" clipped-point; light decorations on both sides of blade. Crudely sharpened.
Heavy scabbard with cast bronze furnishings, steel chain. Wood body is covered with red velvet.
Overall length in scabbard is ~21-1/4"; overall length out of scabbard is ~20".
