This is a short sword/hanger - or very large Bowie-style knife - believed to date form the mid to late 1800s. Unknown origin, not positively identified. The Austrians had a number of similar "sapper's and miners" as well as artillery short swords throughout the 1800s into WWI so it may be one of theirs. Various illegible stampings on the cross-guard.
Overall length is ~26-1/4"; blade length is ~20-1/4" including the ~4-1/2" clip-point false-edge; width at ricasso is ~1/4"; blade height is ~2-1/4" at cross-guard.
Two-piece wood grips held in place by two rivets; hole through pommel for attachment of a lanyard or portepee/troddel; iron S-shaped cross-guard with drum finials.
Overall condition is good with scattered light pitting and dark oxidation.
NOTE: No scabbard.
