African Zulu Short Spear, Iron Point #1 |
1ZULUSS001A
|
African Zulu Short War Spear or Assegai, used for close-in fighting/stabbing by Zulu warriors. Made famous by the actions against the British at the Battle of Isandlwana in early 1879 and the subsequent defense at Rorke's Drift.
Overall length example is ~24-3/8"; spear-head is ~11-1/2" not including the ~3-1/2" twisted iron ferrule/socket. This could also be a shortened Zulu throwing spear, but used for the same purpose.
Overall good condition.
