Used Whitney-Beals Patent Pocket Revolver, also know as the "Walking Beam Pocket Revolver"; manufactured circa 1854 to late 1860's. Standard model, seven-shot, .31 caliber percussion; 4" barrel. Walnut grips.
These guns are significant in firearms curiosa if not firearms evolution in that it skirts every Colt patent. It does not employ a trigger return spring as it depends on the user to move the ring trigger back and forth with the index finger to rotate the cylinder; sort of a semi-double-action but requiring the hammer to be cocked manually.
Walking beam mechanism is worn out, so it does not index. Hammer does cock manually and does fall when the trigger is pulled. Chip missing from right grip ~1/4" x 3/4".
Fair condition overall.
Sold as-is, no warranty implied or given. Not sold as a shooter. Please have any gun you plan to shoot thoroughly checked by a competent gunsmith prior to firing. A great collector's item.
Antique gun, manufactured before 1899.
