Unknown origin Foot Officer's Saber/Sword, circa mid 1800s, perhaps French; unmarked. Dark brown wood (perhaps horn) grip with twisted brass wire wrap. Hilt has been altered from a D-guard 1/4 basket type to a simple S-guard type (see images).
Single-edged ~29-1/2" blade with ~6" flase-edge; large stopped primary fuller with small un-stopped secondary fuller at back-edge of blade.
Overall length is ~35". Fair to good condition with major exceptions noted.
Note: NO SCABBARD.
