Gaucho knife or punales from Argentina. White metal hilt and scabbard with yellow metal embellishments. Blade is stamped, "INDUSTRIA / JU-CA / TANDIL / ARGENTINA". Believed manufactured circa 1940s or 1950s.
Overall length in scabbard is ~14"; overall length out of scabbard is ~12-5/8"; blade length is ~7-3/4"; single-edged blade with an ~3" false-edge.
Scabbard appears to be of thin white metal, perhaps silver or silver-plate over base-metal; hilt is also of a white metal but could also be silver or silver-plate over base-metal, certainly not solid silver as it's not that heavy. The whole set weighs less than ~1/2 pound. Yellow metal embellishments that appear to be gold or gold plate; I have not tested the metal so I do not know what it is; however, it does not appear to tarnish. In any event, I make no guarantees.
Knife must be twisted slightly counter-clockwise to be removed from scabbard, no twist is required to place knife into scabbard; this appears to be by design.
Good condition overall.
