This is a rare African sword of the Kuba tribe of central Congo (central Zaire). Up to the end of the 19 C. It was used as a battle sword, later as a tool (used as an ax) and weapon of prestige, carried by high ranking tribe leaders.
Overall length is ~18"; double-edged, semi-rigid, straight blade with fan-tail tip.
Scattered light surface pitting and oxidation; various nicks in the handle; numerous nicks in the blade edges, some appearing to be blade-on-blade contact points; nonetheless, a good example of this scarce African Ngombe war sword and in fair condition.
NOTE: No scabbard.
