European style infantry hanger or briquet with scabbard, unknown origin; could be Mexican. Smaller in dimensions (hilt and blade width) than the usual examples found so it could be for a youth or cadet. Unmarked so unknown maker or origin, but scabbard frog stud appears German or Russian in style. Crude cast brass hilt with peened blade tang at pommel.
Overall length in scabbard is ~29; overall length out of scabbard is 27"; blade length is ~22-1/2"; blade width at ricasso is ~1-1/8"; thickness ~3-16". Blade is unfullered.
Scabbard is black leather body, stitched on back-side; brass throat and drag.
