Old original German SxS Hammer "Cape Gun" (a combination rifle & shotgun, side-by-side double barrel), shotgun is 16 gauge, rifle is believed 11.15x60R (aka 43 Mauser), believed circa 1890 manufacture so this is an antique. Island locks, break-over breech, with long-bar under-lever. Wedge holds forend wood in place. Rifle barrel appears to be fluid steel, shotgun barrel appears to be Damascus twist. Double triggers, rifle trigger is of the adjustable set type. Single case extractor operates both barrels. Double sling rings/swivels. German proofs (see images). Maker unknown but a "GH" is stamped on one barrel (this could be Gottlieb Heym) but this may not be a maker mark. The gun looks a lot like a Schuler of Suhl but could just as easily be a Weisgerber. Shot barrel is stamped "16", rifle barrel is stamped "67/49" (black powder loads only).
Good wood with cheek-piece, checkered "Prince of Wales" pistol grip and forend; nice patina on barrels, about 40% finish remains. Engraved receiver and lock-plates. Silver wedge escutcheons, engraved steel barrel wedge. Steel butt-plate.
Shotgun bore has some pitting (may clean up somewhat); rifle bore has good rifling (and lots of it) with scattered very minor pitting (should clean up). Under-rib has detached at upper sling swivel, but complete, unbroken and can be repaired.
Overall length is ~43-1/2"; barrel length(s) ~27-1/2"; length of pull (rifle) is ~13-5/8".

Used gun; antique; not sold as a shooter; no warranty implied or given; sold as is. Please have any gun you intend to shoot - in any fashion - checked by a competent gunsmith.
