Original Indian Hide/Leather Shield, believed from middle to southern region, believed 19th century. Black in color, with decorative brass crescent moon over four bosses. No inner straps, but ringlets are there for affixing straps.
Shield is ~19" in diameter and is ~3" deep; leather is ~1/4" to 3/8" thick at the edges.
Overall condition is about good. Chafed area on upper shield edge (see images); it could also be that it is missing a second ear like the one on the bottom edge (see images).
