This is a good copy of the Civil War-era US Model 1860 (aka New Model Light Cavalry) Saber, carried by cavalry troopers.
Brass hilt with original style peened-tang pommel, three branch guard; black leatherette grip with 8 turns of double-strand twisted-brass wire. Steel blade is ~34-1/2" in length; double fullered, both sides. Rolled sheet-steel scabbard body, polished bright, two hanger bands/rings.
Overall length: 42-3/4"; Weight: ~4 lbs.
