Artillery - Cannons, Mortars, Projectiles

Old original miniature cannon barrel believed to date from the early to mid-1800s. This cannon barrel is not from a toy, but from an original functional cannon. These small guns were kept as small-scale models, but also used for giving salutes, sending signals, fighting (as hand-held cannons), and apparently as a type of currency in some regions. These small cannons were made mainly in European countries but were also made in Asian countries such as India. The origin of this cannon is unknown but it was acquired from India; however, it has a very European appearance.
Iron construction. Overall length is ~11" from cascabel to muzzle; width at trunnions is ~3-5/8"; width at breach is ~2"; width at muzzle is ~1-1/2"; believed ~.58 caliber although I cannot be certain as the muzzle has an internal "lip", perhaps from being dropped on the muzzle at some point in time or internal wear. Touch-hole is ~3/16" in diameter (oversized from a lot of use I presume), so deemed unsafe to fire. Fair to good condition overall.
