British Pattern 1821 Light Cavalry Trooper's Saber, no scabbard
$395.00 $316.00 On Sale!
1822BRITCAVNS001

This saber is in the style of a British Pattern 1821 Light Cavalry Trooper's Saber manufactured from the period of about 1821 to about 1853 in Britain and later in other countries; various modifications are known. Unmarked except for what appears to be perhaps a royal cypher that looks like a crown over the Roman numeral II on the right side of the blade about four inches from the hilt (I have not found any royal cypher that resembles this design so I believe it was intended to confuse). These style swords saw service service in the Crimean War and were also exported to a number of countries - including the Confederacy during the American Civil War.
Slightly curved single-edged blade with squared back-edge; single fuller (both sides), stopped at ricasso, and irregular in shape near and at ricasso. Fuller stops are uneven. These irregularities suggest 2nd quality manufacturing or perhaps Southern manufacture (I am researching this more).
Overall length is ~40-1/4"; blade length is ~34-3/4".
All steel construction with the exception of the wood grip (leather wrap is missing but most of the twisted brass wire remains; chip in grip at rear near pommel, see images). Fair condition overall.
NOTE: No Scabbard.
