African belt or arm dagger with leather sheath - from Central Saharan region. Overall length in scabbard is ~13-1/4' overall length out of scabbard is ~13-1/8". Blade is ~8-1/4" on length, double-edged with blunted spear-point tip. Thin bladed with designs on both sides. Leather-wrapped metal grip with exposed spear-point metal pommel (unsharpened). Scabbard appears to be entirely of leather with scattered various designs. |

Sudanese Arm Dagger with Scabbard

African belt or arm dagger with leather sheath - from the Sudan region. Overall length in scabbard is ~13-3/4' overall length out of scabbard is ~13-1/8". Blade is ~7-9/16" in length, double-edged with spear-point tip. Nice blade with distinct medial rib, two lesser ribs creating a double-fuller on each side (see images). Single backwards "N" on both sides (see images). Dark wood grip with unusual "knob" pommel, believed to be a hippopotamus tooth (hippo ivory). Scabbard appears to be entirely of leather with scattered various designs; nicely done. |
