German Model 1879 Revolver (Dreyse Reichsrevolver 1879) |
Designed and manufactured by Fredrich von Dreyse; also manufactured by C.G. Haenel, Gebruder Mauser, Sauer & Son, and V.C. Schilling from 1879 to about 1884; this one was manufactured in 1881 by the consortium of Sauer, Schilling, and Haenel (and so marked - see images). These revolvers were adopted by the German military in 1879. Caliber is 10.6mm, six-shot, single-action, center-fire, overall length ~13.5", barrel length ~7.1", weight ~3lbs, fixed front and rear sights, walnut grips, safety on left side of frame, loading gate on right side of frame. |
