The German Gewehr 98 Mauser was the standard German infantry rifle from 1898 to 1935; this one is dated 1914. Internal box magazine, 5 rounds, 7.92 x 57 mm Mauser caliber. This particular example was manufactured at the Spandau arsenal. The Gewehr 98 saw service in WWI and WWII.
